Why we built this

Private dental implants are one of the most expensive healthcare decisions most people make outside of buying a home. In the UK, prices can vary by 25% for the same treatment, between the same type of clinic, in the same city - and patients almost never see more than two quotes before committing.

We think that's a problem. Everywhere else in life, people compare before they spend thousands of pounds. Dental implants should be no different.

Our job is simple: take your treatment needs, match you with vetted private clinics in your area, and help you compare written quotes like for like. You decide. We don't push.

How we vet clinics

Every clinic in our network must meet the following baseline requirements before we include it:

  • All clinicians must be registered with the General Dental Council (GDC), the UK statutory regulator for dentistry
  • Where the clinic operates in England, it must be registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC)
  • Implant dentistry must be performed by clinicians with post-graduate implantology training and verified case experience
  • Written quotes must include a clear breakdown of surgical fees, materials, laboratory work, and any add-ons (bone graft, sinus lift, sedation)
  • No aggressive upfront deposit policies or pressured-sales tactics

When we find a clinic that doesn't meet our standards - or that starts cutting corners - it comes off the network. That's it.

How we make money

We're transparent about this. We don't charge patients. When a patient chooses to proceed with treatment at a clinic in our network, the clinic pays us a partnership fee. We don't take a percentage of treatment, we don't accept higher fees for ranking, and we don't show different clinics to different users based on how much they'd pay us.

Our incentive is to help you find the right clinic on the first try, not to pump you into the highest-paying one. A mismatched referral is a waste of everyone's time.

Our editorial team

Smile Insights articles are written by a small editorial team with specific beats. Each writer has a defined area of coverage and a bio page you can visit at any time.

Editorial pen name disclosure

We publish under consistent editorial pen names rather than the real names of our writers. Each pen name represents a well-defined editorial role with a real beat and a real writing history, and articles in that beat are consistently published under the same name so readers can follow a voice across the archive.

We chose this approach for three reasons. First, it protects our writers' personal information from the rest of the internet while they cover a commercially competitive area. Second, it gives readers continuity of voice across hundreds of articles. Third, it lets us honestly say that each pen name has a real editorial position behind it, because it does.

What we do not do is claim our editorial writers are GDC-registered dentists, practising clinicians, or published researchers, because they are not. When we cite clinical data, we link to primary UK sources: the General Dental Council, the Care Quality Commission, NHS England, NICE, and peer-reviewed implant dentistry literature. You can check any clinic or clinician we refer to on the GDC Online Register.

Our editorial promise

The guides on this site - cost explainers, procedure walkthroughs, city pages - are written by our editorial team and reviewed against published UK private-practice data. We update them at least once a year, and flag the last review date on every page.

We do not take payment to feature specific brands, products, or dentists in editorial content. If that ever changes, we will tell you so in plain text at the top of the relevant page. Our content is informational only, not clinical advice for your specific case. For decisions about your own treatment, always consult a GDC-registered dentist after a full examination.

Our limits - what we don't do

To be clear:

  • We are not a dental clinic. We do not provide clinical advice.
  • We are not an insurer. We do not sell dental insurance or payment protection.
  • We are not a lender. Finance plans are arranged by the clinic with FCA-regulated partners.
  • We do not promote dental tourism outside the UK. Our network is UK-only.
